It's a unique experience, sleeping on a vintage World War II submarine or Destroyer Escort. In fact, it's something only sailors and submariners can speak about. If you've got a group of 20 or more, we've got a place for you to sleep overnight - a place filled with the magic and mystery of history.

Our sleepover options are as follows:

Bonus Package – $35 per person

  • Overnight accommodations from 5:00pm-9:00am
  • Tours of both the USS Cavalla and USS Stewart
  • Educational games hosted by AUWC volunteers
  • Evening snack provided while viewing movie (chips/popcorn and drink)
  • Continental Breakfast (cereal, fruit, pastry, milk, juice, and coffee)

Deluxe Package – $50 per person

  • Overnight accommodations from 5:00pm-9:00am
  • Dinner Provided by AUWC (Pizza or Submarine Sandwiches and Chips, plus drink)
  • Tours of both the USS Cavalla and USS Stewart
  • Educational games hosted by AUWC volunteers
  • Evening snack provided while viewing movie (chips/popcorn and drink)
  • Continental Breakfast (cereal, fruit, pastry, milk, juice, and coffee)

Sleep-Over Questions & Answers:

Will I be charged the same as my child?
All visitors will be charged the same amount per person (i.e. Adults vs. Children).

My youngest son is 3 years old. Can he attend sleep-overs with our group?
Minimum age for Sleep-Over participants is 5 years old. For the courtesy of the other guests, please do not bring infant or toddler children.

Is there Heating and Air Conditioning aboard vessels?
USS Cavalla (Submarine) No – Heating/Yes – Air Conditioning​; USS Stewart (Destroyer Escort) Yes – Heating/ Yes – Air Conditioning. The weather will dictate which ship(s) will be most accommodating.

How large of a group can you accommodate?
The minimum group size is 20 guests. However, we can accommodate up to 45 guests comfortably. Please, contact us directly for reservations of smaller or larger groups.

Are showers available during our visit?
No, showers are not available during your visit aboard either vessel.

What does each person need to bring for the sleepover?
Each attendee is required to bring his or her own sleeping bag, pillow, pillowcase, and toiletries.

If we choose the “Bonus” option package, can we barbeque outside or cook on the ship?
No cooking is allowed within the military display area. If your group decides to provide their own food and drinks, it is recommended that cold foods (i.e. sandwiches, salads, etc.) be brought in ice chests or coolers. NOTE: There are a few local resturants that deliver to the ships, but orders must be placed by the group in advance. CHF representatives have the list of resturants and will be happy to assist with recommendations.

Will there be security or staff overnight?
Yes – CHF always provides overnight staff for safety and assistance with security issues. However, groups must provide supervision at a ratio of (1) adult for every (5) children under the age of 18. CHF is not responsible for or to be left with underage children without group supervision at any time. Adults must sleep over and accompany all events and tours held during the sleep-over event. In addition, each group must provide overnight “Fire Watch” supervision from “lights out” through morning breakfast.

Now that I have chosen a date and a Sleep-Over Option Package, what do I do?
Once you have contacted us and we have confirmed your group event, a $100 deposit and *Certificate of Insurance (COI) are required to confirm your reservation. The remainder of all fees must be paid at least 30 days in advance to hold your reservation. Refunds will only be issued for cancellations at least 30 days in advance. * Certificates of Insurance must list the Cavalla Historical Foundation as an additional insured.
